Type of Nouns



Definition:

   What is Noun, there are many different types of Nouns. As we know, we capitalize some Nouns, such as " Brazil" or " Sara " and do not capitalize other, such as " Bee " or " Car " (unless these Nouns appear at the beginning of a sentence). Absolutely, grammarians have developed a whole series of Noun types, the common Noun, the concert Noun, including the proper Noun...



If we are interested in the details of these different types, we can read about them in the following sections:


Proper Nouns:

   We always write a proper Noun with a capital letter, since the Noun represent the Noun of a specific person, place, or thing. The names of hour of the day Week, Months, Institutions, Religious, Historical Documents, Organizations their holy texts and their adherents are proper Nouns. In each of the next sentences, the proper Nouns are:

_ Many people dread Monday mornings.
_ the moon appears in the West of Planet.
_ This year, I have a Baptist, a Buddhist, and a Gardnerian Witch as roommates.


Common Nouns:

  A common Noun is a Noun referring to a THING/ PERSON/ PLACE OR PERSON; in a generally sense always, we have to write it with a capital letter only when it begins a sentence.

In each of the next sentences, the common Nouns:

_Depending on the sign, the nearest town is 60 miles away.

_All the gardens in the city were invaded by Ants this summer.
_Many child-care workers are underpaid.


Most of time we make proper Nouns out of common Nouns, as in the following sentences:

_ The tenants in the Garner Apartment are appealing the large and sudden increase in their rent.

_ The food in bouncing Bean Restaurant is inexpensive than food in ordinary restaurant.


Concrete Nouns:

 A concrete Noun is a Noun which names anything or (anyone) that you can perceive through our physical senses: touch, taste, hearing, sight or smell. The highlighted words in the Next sentences are all:

_ The police handed the files clerk.
_ Whenever they take the cat to the park, it spends hours chasing ball.
_ As the but drove past the park, the thump of a disco tune overwhelmed the string quarter's rendition of a minute.
